The Most Beautiful Moment in Life series marks a major stylistic change for BTS.
Musically, BTS ventures into the EDM (electronic dance music) sound with the hit single I NEED U, along with with a narrative-driven video. We get our first glimpse into the fictional BTS universe, which weaves many of their videos and songs into an emotional storyline that is at times dark and tragic.
Songs like Suga’s “Intro: 화양연화 (Most Beautiful Moment in Life)” sets the pensive and angst-ridden precedent for the rest of the tracks.
As much as I like this album and it’s Part 2 companion, I rarely listen to it, instead opting to listen to Young Forever, which is a compilation and repackage of the first two EPs.
The photography in the book might be a little too “artsy” for me. Many images show the group members in a dingy hotel room looking forlorn, despondent, and in some questionable poses. However, this doesn’t overshadow the music.
