Pure Pop Perfection
In this mini album from BTS, they experiment with a variety of sounds. I’m just going to give a few thoughts on my favorite tracks.
“Intro: Persona” RM hasn’t sounded this dope in while. Well, I take that back. He did his thing on “Outro: Tear” for sure. But it’s nice to hear him return to form and do another intro song.
“Boy With Luv ” or “작은 것들을 위한 시” (translated “A Poem for Small Things”) is pure pop perfection. I love this song so much. It’s perfect from front to back. Halsey’s contribution is a perfect complement to the guys. Suga’s part really shines, and I’m happy to hear him in his element. I feel like I’ve been missing Suga for the last three or four comebacks, like he’s retreated to the background. I hope to hear more of Suga on future releases, because his lyricism and flow are integral to the BTS sonic blueprint.
“Home” is the type of song I like to hear from BTS. I miss this R&B sound from them, which seems to be a sound they have kind of left behind. But I hope they include more of these types of songs in their future works.
“Jamais Vu” I feel like I would not normally like this type of song, but there’s something hauntingly beautiful about it. I like that the song only features three members: Jungkook, Jin, and J-Hope, and that Jin gets some time to shine. I think the three-member song makes the track more cohesive and gives it the feeling of continuity throughout.
