A bittersweet unboxing
This unboxing is bittersweet because my BTS Memories of 2018 package arrived damaged. Not only were the corners of the cover bent, but some of the interior pages also showed signs of damage. I was so upset!
I purchased BTS Memories of 2018 from eBay. Up until now, I’ve never had a problem with any order I’ve placed with eBay. I’ve been buying and selling on eBay since September 1, 2004, and for the first time ever, I left a negative review.
As you can see from the video, the photobook binder was bubble wrapped a couple of times and then thrown in a plastic bag. This package came all the way from South Korea to North Caroilna. Did the seller really expect this package to come in one piece with no damage whatsoever?
I suspect the seller was being cheap by throwing this fragile chipboard and paper binder/notebook into a thin plastic bag instead of putting it in an appropriately-sized box.
After receiving my negative review, the seller did reach out to me and offer a partial refund. I thought about sending the package back for a full refund, but I figured it would take months, not to mention having to ship the darn thing back to South Korea.
So I opted for the partial refund. And do you know what I got? A paltry $11.78. Not even enough to ship the package back to South Korea if I wanted to.
Then, the seller kept pestering me about changing my negative review. I had no such plans to acquiesce until the man actually called my cell phone and left a message! Ya’ll, that’s my first phone call ever from South Korea! It was kind of cool. But I was still annoyed that he called me.
In the end, I changed my negative review to a neutral one. There was no way in hell I was changing it to positive.
I was able to smooth out that bent corner somewhat, so it doesn’t look as bad as it did when I initially unboxed it. But I’m still disappointed, because I was so looking forward to adding this new item to my BTS collection, and the damage kind of soured the experience.
